Hi, I am Hannah Carpenter. In my earliest memories of cooking, I am reaching up to the hob barely able to see over, as I stir some scrambled eggs. My mother often cooked and baked, and encouraged me to do the same. I baked biscuits and helped with the cooking. By the age of 11, I was cooking three-course meals for guests, and regularly cooking home-cooked meals like lasagne, Shepherds Pie, Moussaka, and one of my favourites was a delicious Salmon En Croute that I had seen cooked on the wonderful Food and Drink programme sometime in the early 90s. (The Salmon en Croute wasn’t just a favourite of mine as you can see in the 200th episode of the programme).

In my professional career, I have worked as a freelance WordPress website designer and developer. I have also worked in digital marketing and website project management for charities including Diabetes UK, Breast Cancer Now and Macmillan Cancer Support. However, after a long career break to home-educate my son, I am looking for a direction.

I had long wanted to write a food blog but had always struggled to find the time to fit it in. Early in 2024, I couldn’t get the idea out of my head and decided I needed to finally just get on with it. Knowing I have so much experience in digital marketing and website development, this was a chance to combine my passion for cooking with my skills. It also gives me the chance to refresh and update my skills in digital, in particular digital content writing and SEO.
